About the event

The Christingle symbol is made up of an orange, which represents the world, wrapped in a red ribbon, representing Christ’s blood, into which a lit candle is inserted to represent the light Christ brought to the world. Small fruits and sweets, skewered onto four cocktail sticks and pushed into the orange, represent the fruits of the Earth and the four seasons. The Christingles are then held and lit at the service as part of children's Christmas celebrations at church. At St. Matthias the Christingles are prepared beforehand so there's no need to bring your own orange.
